The foamed waves crashed against the rigid shoreline of the Atlantic coast. The night was rising, and the sun began to die as the day withered away. The only life stirring upon the shore was the creatures beneath the sand and a mother and child.
"Anita darling, please don't get to close to the water. That is your new dress grandma made for you!" the mother's tone was softer, not trying to scold the young girl.
"Look mother! I can see the sun falling! It's moving mother!" Anita stood barefoot in the sand, the water washing ankle-high over her feet moderately. Her toes wiggled through the smooth sand.
"It's getting late Anita, we must leave soon," the mother's long floral dress swayed in the misty breeze. Anita seemed to discourage her mothers remark as she began to run swiftly across the shoreline. The water and muddy sand splashed across her legs at every step she had taken.
The sun soon was dead, and the only light shining was the moon's glisten upon the earth. The only noise that rung in Anita's ears was the crashing of the light waves, unaware that her mother was calling from a far distance. The young girl soon realized how far she had gone after looking back to see only the sand and ocean alone staring back at her. Her small heart began to race when she could not see her mother in the dark light.
"Mother?" She cupped her hands across her mouth and called again. "Mother!" There was no reply.  She was unaware of what to do. Her mother had always taught her that if she was lost, she should never wander off from where she was at. But it was very unsettling to be alone. Although she was alone, she still felt like her mother was behind her always. After she had called to her mother many times, silver tears streaked across her cheeks. She began to scream and run back towards where she had came from, ignoring the advice her mother had given to her throughout the times. "Mama!" she called seeing a shadowy figure in the misty air. But soon after she nearly got close enough to touch her mother, the figure was gone. Looking around to find her mother, she noticed something irregular in the water. There had seemed to be foggy red lights in the murkiness of the water. Out of curiosity, Anita slowly moved herself towards the waves rocking back and forth like a baby in a cradle. The next moment Anita could hardly catch her breath, she was grabbed by a person, or something, in the water. The thing seemed as if it was trying to kidnap her or drown her. She urged her arms and legs around, attempting to catch freedom, but the creature would not release it's arms. Anita was dragged under the water as she still searched for a release. Her ears nearly rang out of her head when a high pitched screech burst throughout the water. Thinking it was the creature, Anita found out it was a whistle of a man in a fishing boat. The black creature with large glowing red eyes soon released her and dove down into the emptiness of what the ocean was. Failing to swim, Anita gasped for oxygen once she reached the surface.
"Why, lass? Ain't it very dangerous for you to be swimming out here all alone and such?" The elderly man grabbed her by the arm and pulled her upon the boat.
"M…Mother…. M…Monster….  Tried to d…drown me!" she shivered in the cold wet air. Her hair drooped on her face, soaking.
"Why miss, there is nothing to worry about, y'all just probably fell and the waves swallowed you in it's belly," Anita gasped, not understanding his figure of speech. He patted her shoulder. "Like I said, there is nothing to worry about. Now where's your mother, or pa, or just someone you know that I can leave you with?" He headed back to the wheel at the point of the boat as he directed it towards shore. Still shocked about what had happened, Anita hesitated to speak for a long while.
Soon after the shock smoothed out, she spoke, "Well sir, I was with my mother, but I do not know where she is," She could hear the old man sighing, although his back was turned to her.
Anita just thought it was the man's whistle again, when she heard an even higher and louder high pitched screech, but she knew it wasn't after she noticed the man's bewildered expression. He heart raced itself again as the boat began swaying back and forth. Looking down in the water, Anita saw the beast's glowing red eyes once more under the bent water. The creature began to screech high pitched continuously for those few long moments. The man soon took out a long shot gun and banged towards the creature. The shots of the gun drowned out the screeches of the beast; Anita covered her ears.
After the boat ceased to rock any further, and screeching ended. Anita felt safer to merge towards the edge of the boat to search for the beast's dead body. She saw the red eyes slowly float up to the surface. Her arms froze along with her whole body as the creature  grabbed them and dragged her underneath the water once more. She screamed while under the oceans depths for she had noticed a large spear or a needle on the creatures arm, afraid she'd be stabbed and killed. After a few minutes it seemed, Anita got very light headed and still was struggling to escape, although her power was growing less and less.
She soon seemed to be brought back to surface when the water disappeared and she could breath. Still short out of breath, Anita fainted in the creatures arms. Last thing seeing was the creatures round face and the whole ocean on it's shoulders.
